Derrick Borte has provided directorial services from concept and creative through production and post for broadcast, digital, and transmedia projects for international clients such as Jaguar, Barbasol, Volkswagen, Afrin, Betty Crocker, and more. 

 

Derrick wrote, produced, and directed THE JONESES (Demi Moore, David Duchovny, Amber Heard), which garnered a Gala presentation at the 2010 TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL. The film was also an official selection of the DEAUVILLE FESTIVAL OF AMERICAN FILM, DALLAS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, SARASOTA FILM FESTIVAL, SEDONA FILM FESTIVAL, and ZURICH FILM FESTIVAL. 

 

His recent feature film work with Storyland Pictures, includes DARK AROUND THE STARS (Kathryn Hahn, Illeanna Douglas, Vinessa Shaw, Tom Bower)which premiered at the NAPA VALLEY FILM FESTIVAL. He is currently completing work on H8RZ (Abigail Spencer, Cary Elwes, Jeremy Sisto). Both are set for release in 2015.


Borte began his career as a painter, and his design work has been commissioned by surf apparel companies such as Billabong and Gotcha.

After receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Old Dominion University, he earned his Masters of Arts in Media Studies at PARSONS/The New School in New York, and joined the production staff at Sony Music Studios, where his fine arts background evolved with his indoctrination to film and video.

 

He continues to exhibit his work as a visual artist, is currently co-writing a stealth marketing text with Harvard/University of Southern California professor Marcel Saucet, and is set to direct LONDON TOWN in 2015.
